ViAlliance35, the consortium comprising Invesis, STRABAG, Cintra and Budimex, has been selected by the Czech Ministry of Transport as preferred bidder to deliver the D35 highway public-private partnership (PPP) project in the Czech Republic.
The project will deliver 35.4 kilometres of new motorway between Opatovec and Staré Město and between Staré Město and Mohelnice, as well as the operation and maintenance of the existing 17-kilometre section between Litomyšl and Opatovec. This will bring the total network under management by the consortium to approximately 52 kilometres. The project will be delivered under a 28-year concession and covers the design, construction, financing, operation and maintenance. It will operate under an availability payment model, with payments linked to the availability and performance of the motorway rather than traffic volumes.
The works also include the construction of two tunnels measuring approximately 4 kilometres and 1.3 kilometres in length. The D35 is one of the Czech Republic's most significant transport infrastructure projects and, upon completion in 2032, will improve connectivity between Bohemia and Moravia while helping relieve congestion on the existing I/35 and D1 corridors.
Chris Williams, Chief Executive Officer of Invesis, said:
“The D35 is an important addition to the Czech Republic’s strategic transport network and a significant project for Invesis reflecting our continued commitment to investing in essential infrastructure across Europe. Our role is about much more than reaching financial close: we bring a long-term approach to infrastructure, working alongside our public-sector clients and consortium partners throughout the life of a project to deliver reliable, high-quality assets for the benefit of the communities that depend on them. We look forward to working with the Czech Ministry of Transport, Cintra, Budimex, STRABAG and our wider project partners to deliver the D35 successfully and generate lasting value for the Czech Republic.”
