N33 Assen-Zuidbroek
The N33 between Assen and Zuidbroek was a single carriageway with a poor safety record and insufficient capacity for the Groningen and Drenthe region. Invesis and BAM won the DBFM contract in 2012 to upgrade it to a 2x2 dual carriageway, completing construction in December 2014 ahead of schedule and maintaining the road until handback in 2034.

Working with Rijkswaterstaat to upgrade the N33 and improve safety and connectivity across northern Netherlands
The N33 between Assen and Zuidbroek had been identified as a priority for improvement in the Groningen and Drenthe region - a single carriageway with inadequate capacity, a poor safety record and no grade separation at junctions.
In 2012, Rijkswaterstaat awarded the contract to Invesis as sole investor, working with BAM Civil (57%), BAM Roads (37%) and BAM IT (6%) for design, construction and maintenance. Construction completed in December 2014 - ahead of the scheduled programme - delivering a 2x2 dual carriageway with no level crossings, improved junctions and a 100km/h speed limit throughout.
The project was structured around four shared objectives agreed with the client: a satisfied client, a satisfied environment, a satisfied road user and a satisfied contractor - embedding a collaborative approach to performance across the 20-year concession. Handback to Rijkswaterstaat is due in September 2034.
