Partnering with Derbyshire Police Authority to create a modern law enforcement centre at St Mary's Wharf
Derbyshire Police Authority needed a new divisional headquarters and city section station to consolidate operations across Derby. In 1999, Invesis was appointed as sole investor under a 30-year PFI, with BAM Construction transforming the brownfield site at St Mary's Wharf into a modern law enforcement centre.
The four-storey headquarters provides 8,000m2 of accommodation for 450 police officers and 60 civilian support staff. Specialist facilities include a 39-cell custody suite, a victim support and child protection unit, and a 60m radio mast - space on which is let to third parties, generating shared income for the Police Authority and the SPV. The project was delivered on time with value engineering carried out to meet the client's budget requirements. Handback is due in 2030.
