The best ideas for positive impact come from the people closest to our projects. The Invesis Sustainability Fund backs those ideas - turning practical proposals into real initiatives that benefit the communities around our sustainable infrastructure investments.

From biodiversity to community wellbeing - the Sustainability Fund enables our project teams to go further for the communities they serve.

Proposals can come from any Invesis team member or project client connected to one of our investments. The fund supports both environmental and social initiatives, with up to €20,000 available per project. Since launching in 2025, eight initiatives have been approved and we are actively encouraging more.

Going the extra mile for communities is not exceptional at Invesis - it is expected.

The fund backs a wide range of ideas - from biodiversity and energy-saving projects to community donations and social inclusion events. What matters is not the size of the idea but the quality of the impact and the commitment of the people behind it.

How the fund works

Any Invesis team member or project client connected to one of our investments can propose an initiative. Proposals are reviewed by our Sustainability team and approved by the Management Board. Individual initiatives are supported with up to €20,000, with flexibility depending on scale and potential impact. The only requirement is that outcomes can be clearly identified and reported once delivered.

What we support

The fund backs a wide range of ideas - from biodiversity and energy-saving projects to community donations, social inclusion events and equipment for local charities. We actively encourage collaboration with clients, community groups, charities and operational partners. The best proposals tend to come from the people closest to our assets, who understand the specific needs and opportunities of the communities they work within.

Delivering impact on the ground

Since launching in 2025, the fund has approved eight initiatives across our portfolio. These range from insect hotels along German motorway corridors and a wind turbine trial at a roads operations centre, to EV charging points at a Solihull school and specialist medical equipment for children at the University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein. Each initiative is small in scale but meaningful in impact.

Sharing what we learn

We are committed to sharing the outcomes of each initiative so that learnings can inform future proposals across the portfolio. Updates on approved initiatives are published as news stories on this website, and we encourage teams to celebrate the difference their ideas have made. The fund is a practical expression of something we believe deeply: that going the extra mile for communities is always worth it.

Lasting Social and Environment impact

Since launching in 2025, the fund has backed creative initiatives proposed by our project teams to deliver real local value.

“Food and Fences” – A8

Supporting sustainable agriculture, a donation is made to a farmer using cattle along the side of the road to manage green areas.

"O&M centre wind turbine" – German Roads

Trial of 5-6 kW turbine (easily deployable) to feed into existing PV and battery installation (a trial for wider roll out).

“Insect Hotels” – German Roads

Installation of 2 branded insect hotels for each of the 4 German roads investments, to promote and enhance biodiversity locally.

“Celebrating Trust Staff” – Wharfedale Hospital

Supporting an event (held on 10th Oct) to thank and celebrate the hundreds of (often uncelebrated) staff who help to run the health trusts estate.

“EV charging points” – Solihull School

Providing two EV charging points for staff to use free of charge. This has both environmental and social benefits and supports staff to make the switch to EVs.

“Water saving” – Locorail

Modifying systems to capture and reuse potable water used during fire safety testing procedures. Saving circa 1.4 million ltrs / yr, and reducing energy use.

“Supporting Children’s Ward” – UKSH

Funding equipment which will ease process of infants receiving vein treatment and making a donation to support fun activities and entertainment, organized by “friends of the ward”.

“Digital monitoring of rainwater basins” – A9

Trialing digital monitoring of sludge levels to keep basins operating effectively, avoiding 1,800 km of driving and many days of manual worker time, also improving safety.
