Work experience

David Swarbrick is Chief Investment Officer (CIO) for the Invesis Group. He joined Invesis in 2020 as Managing Director UK and Ireland and was appointed CIO by our PGGM and BAM shareholders in April 2023.

David has further built on our strong 20+ years track record in the PPP market by leading the company’s growth.  This has included diversification in our home markets by securing the company’s first digital infrastructure investment in Asanti Datacentres, and leading our international growth by establishing Invesis in the US and Australia.  Under David’s leadership we have opened an office near Washington DC and he is in the process of establishing offices in London and Australia to our expand investment and asset management opportunities. He has also led the company’s rebrand to Invesis.

David has worked for over 20 years in public-private partnerships, including roles in the UK National Health Service and as a social housing provider. He spent 16 years at Balfour Beatty Investments where he held a number of senior managerial positions, latterly as the UK and Ireland Managing Director, delivering major, complex property and infrastructure developments in sectors as diverse as healthcare, schools, student accommodation, residential development, renewable energy generation, and distribution, waste and highways.

I am delighted to have joined the management board of Invesis at such an exciting time for the business.  We are in the process of transforming ourselves into an independent and autonomous investor and developer focused on delivering long term sustainable investments for our clients and their communities.  At the same time we are evolving our strategy – diversifying into digital infrastructure and the energy transition – and exporting our successful PPP/P3 approach to new markets like the US and Australia.  But whilst we are determined to succeed in these new ventures we also intend to maintain our competitive presence as a leading player in the European PPP market“.

David lives in London and, now that his two children are grown up, in his spare time he enjoys cooking, eating out, and running. He enjoys a SCUBA dive and is always looking for opportunities to get back to the seafloor and somewhere warm.
