BAM Welcomes Minister For Education to Tramore School

BAM Contractors today welcomed the Minister for Education and Skills, Ruairí Quinn T.D. to Tramore Community School.

Tramore Community School, designed and developed by BAM Contractors for the Department of Education and Skills and the NDFA, under the PPP Programme is a new post-primary school arising from the amalgamation of CBS Tramore and Stella Maris Secondary School. The new school, which will be handed over on March 18th, will accommodate 1,000 pupils (mixed girls and boys). The school comprises a ground floor area of 10,000sq.m and includes general teaching accommodation, specialist classrooms and workshops, physical education hall and ancillary areas, hard play courts, playing pitches and car parking spaces.

 

Tramore Community School is part of the Public Private Partnership (PPP) contract that BAM PPP signed with the National Development Finance Agency (NDFA) in November 2012 for the design, build and finance a of eight schools across Ireland, and maintaining them for a 25 year period

Speaking at the event, Liam Roche General Manager with BAM PPP said: „BAM is pleased to welcome Minister Quinn to Tramore Community School, a facility which will greatly enhance educational infrastructure in the region. Investment in our educational resources is an investment in the future of the country and the state-of-the-art school in Tramore provides the best possible facilities for both students and teachers. This is one of eight schools which BAM is delivering across Ireland over the next few months as part of the Schools Bundle 3 PPP project and I am proud to say that each school will be completed within budget and on time.“

Other schools developed as part of this SB3 PPP project are located in Donegal (Letterkenny), Galway (Doughiska), Leitrim (Ballinamore), Limerick (Doon), Westmeath (Athlone) and Wexford (Gorey). BAM is responsible for maintaining the schools under a 25 year service contract.
