A59 Motorway

The N59 highway, which runs between Rosmalen and Geffen in the Netherlands, required reconstruction to address traffic bottlenecks that encouraged motorists to shortcut through residential areas to avoid traffic. Transformation of the N59 was necessary to boost the economy, alleviate congestion within local towns and enable the efficient transportation of goods and services. 

To address the existing issue, the Province of North-Brabant converted the N59 highway into the A59, through partnering with public-private partnership (PPP) experts. The A59 is a fully-fledged motorway with four connections, a grade-separated intersection, a bicycle tunnel, viaducts and other various environmental facilities.  

M1 Dundalk Western Bypass

The €116m M1 Dundalk–Western bypass project was a major project and involved the design, construction, and 30-year operation and maintenance of 11 km of new motorway, including 7 km of new link roads and 12 km of over and under bridges.

It also included the 30-year operation and maintenance of a further 43 km of existing motorway from Dundalk southwards towards Gormanston, including a cable-stay bridge over the River Boyne.

N25 Waterford Bypass

The €262 million N25 Waterford Bypass project was a PPP scheme for Ireland’s National Roads Authority which involved the design, build, financing, operating, and maintenance of a new 23-kilometre motorway.

Celtic Roads Group, a consortium comprising of Invesis, BAM, Iridiam and Atlas Investments, were awarded the N25 project in 2006. The development included a new river crossing, a cable stay bridge with an overall length of approximately 475m on the River Suir, and a new connection known as the Western Link, connecting the bypass to industrial areas in the south-west of the city.

A8 Motorway

The A8 project was the first of four pilot projects under the A-Model programme, involving the widening of heavily congested German motorways.

SPV General Manager Christian Diringer outlined the background to the A8 project.

M7/M8 Portlaoise Motorway

The M7/M8 Portlaoise Motorway project involved the provision of 41 km of standard two-lane motorway, approximately 3 km of single carriageway link roads, approximately 15 km of side roads, three grade separated junctions, 48 new structures, and a motorway to motorway interchange forming part of the N7 Dublin to Limerick route and the N8 Dublin to Cork route.

It also includes a significant section of the M7 motorway link between Dublin and Limerick bypassing the towns of Mountrath, Castletown and Borris-in-Ossory.

N25 New Ross Bypass

This project involves the design, construction, financing, operation, and maintenance of approximately 13.6 km of new dual carriageway (N25 & N30 routes) and 1.2 km of new/upgraded single carriageway (New Ross N30) route and various structures (junctions and road bridges), the most notable of which is the 887 m River Barrow crossing, a three tower extradosed bridge. The bridge will be the longest of its type in the world.
