The challenge

The contract included the renovation of the old ministry building. It will be a flexible government office; not renewed for a specific department but shared by several governmental organisations. The renewed Rijnstraat 8 offers a pleasant environment in line with today’s flexible working patterns. In addition, the building has an inviting and open character.

The solution

Since its launch in 2017, the new Rijnstraat 8 government office has accommodated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment, the Immigration and Naturalisation Services, and the Dutch Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA).

„The renovation included approx. 90.000 m2 gross floor space office building, accommodating at least 4,200 workplaces for several ministries, including parking and commercial space. The scope of services included maintenance of the building and installations, catering, cleaning, waste management, facility management, energy, and ICT services. The agreement also included the commercial exploitation of parking, shops, and a restaurant/food court.“ SPV General Manager Philip Kroner.
