Introduction

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic infrastructure professional to support the Head of Australia & New Zealand in building upon Invesis’ early success and to help drive the business forward in Australia and New Zealand.

Job Description and Responsibilities
  • Full oversight and responsibility as Invesis ‘project delivery lead’ to manage PPP and similar investments in Australia and New Zealand from Financial Close through construction, operations and handback ofthe investment.
  • Work with the Head of Australia & New Zealand and the Invesis Board to develop and implement the business strategy for Australia and New Zealand. This will include promoting the business widely throughout the market and developing a positive network of relationships with government and other clients, co-investors, contractors and advisors.
  • Provide leadership and direction in the optimisation of performance of the portfolio of investments in Australia & New Zealand and high quality commercial management of our assets including identifying risks and opportunities that could impact performance of the portfolio of investments.
  • Represent Invesis, in the capacity of Board Director (or alternate Director), on portfolio asset companies and contribute to effective governance, reporting and achievement of target returns.
  • In particular, take steps to ensure that key risks (including safety and reputational risks) are carefully managed on existing assets and put in place robust arrangements to ensure the rapid reporting of material concerns and the systematic reporting of asset performance.
  • Work with the Chief Operating Officer and other Invesis Asset Management Directors to develop an effective and coherent approach to project delivery across the Invesis portfolio including taking ownership of and responsibility for reporting on existing investments and deliver timely information and quarterly reporting that is an accurate reflection of the project and operational performance of the asset.
  • Contribute to the development of bids/investment cases, providing a focus on ensuring lessons learned from existing investments are taken account of, that there is a robust consideration of risk and opportunity, and ensuring that the future management of the asset is properly planned and resourced.
  • Possess a robust understanding of ESG principles and take responsibility for integrating sustainability into the Invesis ANZ portfolio. This includes a focus on environmental sustainability including decarbonising our investments, a strong grasp of corporate governance standards, and the capacity to assess and enhance social value of the Australian and New Zealand investments.
  • Attend relevant industry events in both Australia and New Zealand.
  • The role will require travel throughout Australia, New Zealand and occasional visits to Europe to build relationships with and gain knowledge from Invesis colleagues.
Who are we looking for?
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field – ideally in a construction/engineering or financial/business discipline.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional training and development.
  • 10+ years PPP experience having been involved in asset management for greenfield and operational assets.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Feels comfortable working with multiple external and internal stakeholders with varied and often conflicted interests and therefore is a natural networker and relationship builder, an advanced communicator.
  • Project Company Representative experience (within a PPP context) will be viewed favourably.
  • Board Director experience on PPP special purpose vehicles (project companies).
  • In-depth knowledge of legal and commercial structures in PPPs including risk allocation amongst stakeholders and experience of contract negotiation and contract management.
  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiating and influencing skills.
  • The ability to understand and explain typical commercial and technical issues that arise on PPPs and to be able to act as an ‘intelligent client’ when dealing with contractors and advisors.
  • Strategic thinking coupled with pragmatism and decisiveness, with an ability to be hands-on when appropriate or required.
  • A team player with a collaborative and pro-active approach.
