Job purpose:

The ESG Business Partner will play a key role in shaping and executing Invesis ESG strategy, ensuring that it aligns with our commitment to be an investor and developer of sustainable infrastructure. The role requires strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of ESG, strong analytical skills and the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders across the business.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  1. ESG Strategic Leadership:
  • Work closely with the Invesis leadership team to refine and implement the ESG strategy in alignment with Invesis overall investment goals and values, driving operational change across the business.
  • Provide insight and guidance to the Board on sustainability risks and their mitigation.
  • Advise on ESG best practices, driving the business toward sustainable investments, especially regarding Public Private Partnership (PPP) projects and infrastructure assets.
  1. Climate, Energy Efficiency and Decarbonisation:
  • Drive the implementation of energy efficiency and decarbonisation plans for Invesis investments, working toward achieving Paris Agreement-aligned and Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) goals.
  1. Governance and Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with global ESG regulations, including the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR), and other reporting requirements.
  • Responsible for voluntary sustainability frameworks such as GRESB (Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark), and Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), and other frameworks like UN Global Compact and UN SDGs.
  • Create and maintain ESG policies and frameworks that guide our approach to responsible investment, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, industry standards and local laws.
  • Collaborate closely with the Risk Management Business Partner to identify and manage both financial and ESG-related risks and opportunities across the business.
  1. Integration of ESG into our responsible investment approach:
  • Integrate ESG risks and opportunities into the investment process, ensuring that sustainability criteria are embedded in the identification and progression of investment opportunities.
  • Work closely with the origination and project delivery teams to incorporate ESG factors into decision-making frameworks, ensuring alignment with Invesis’s sustainability goals.
  • Identify ESG risks and opportunities across the business and investments, making sure that sustainability risks are mitigated effectively.
  1. ESG Reporting:
  • Build and enhance Invesis’ ESG data collection including the development of a tool to manage the disclosure and reporting of mandatory and voluntary ESG data.
  • Overall responsibility for ESG reporting and preparation of an annual sustainability report.
  • Collaborate across business units and investments to gather both quantitative and qualitative data for internal and external reporting on sustainability goals, climate risks, and ESG performance.
  1. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication:
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, shareholders, JV partners, investors, and local communities, to advocate and communicate Invesis’s ESG commitments and progress.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration to embed ESG values into operational, financial, and strategic business decisions.
  • Collaborate with Invesis Marketing & Communications team to generate internal and external press highlighting sustainability efforts.
  1. Training and Capacity Building:
  • Lead workshops, training, and internal communications to raise awareness and build capability within the organisation around sustainability, including climate change and impact on environment, people and communities, and governance structures.

Requirements:

  • Passionate about sustainability, with the ability to inspire and lead by example.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business Administration, Finance or Economics or a related field. Professional certification (e.g. CFA, ESG related certification preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience with strong skills within sustainability, ESG, especially in developing and implementing sustainability strategy within a financial institution or investment company with a strong focus on infrastructure and investments.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ESG issues and reporting frameworks (e.g., CSRD, SFDR, SECR, GRESB, PRI, GRI, SASB).
  • Experience with carbon accounting, GHG Protocol, energy efficiency, decarbonisation strategies, SBTI and Paris Aligned targets.
  • Knowledge in integrating ESG into investment processes and decision-making.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex ESG strategic initiatives in simple yet engaging terms to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership, project management and organisational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, especially in translating complex ESG metrics into clear strategies and reports.
  • Ability to manage cross-functional teams and collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Willingness to travel as needed across Invesis’ operational countries.
